As Vice President of Development, Richard Dietrich oversees all AFT fundraising activity for its entire range of programs.
Dietrich has been with AFT since September 2006. Prior to that he spent four years at the Sierra Club directing the organization's work with grant making foundations and corporate supporters. In this role, he worked to secure funding for all of the organization's conservation work on issues such as energy, clean air and water, transportation, public lands protection and grassroots organizing.
Prior to the Sierra Club, Dietrich worked for Conservation International's Center for Environmental Leadership in Business, actively securing funding and engagement from major corporations in the protection of threatened ecosystems. He also served as a consultant to the U.S. Agency for International Development and the Inter-American Development Bank, and spent two years on Capitol Hill working for U.S. Senator Claiborne Pell (D-RI).
Dietrich attended Yale University's School of Management, where he received an M.B.A. degree. He completed his undergraduate studies at Wesleyan University, receiving a B.S. with a major in government. Dietrich grew up in rural southeastern Pennsylvania. He now resides with his wife, Ginger, and their daughter, Olivia, in Chevy Chase, Maryland.
