Northwest Conservation manager

Christy Carr is the Conservation Manager for the Pacific Northwest Regional office of American Farmland Trust. Christy oversees AFT’s Agriculture and Environment Program in the region and manages the Pioneers in Conservation grants program and works on AFT’s efforts to develop and improve the ability for farmers to access a variety of existing and emerging environmental markets.  In her work, she collaborates with farmers, funders, and partner agencies to implement on-the-ground conservation projects on working farms.

Prior to joining AFT, Christy worked for over a dozen years in environmental consulting as a planner, biologist and landscape designer on multi-disciplinary projects specializing in regulatory and policy planning and natural resource management.  In a nearly three-year hiatus from deskwork, Christy worked as a farmhand on a 20-acre organic farm.

Christy has a BS in landscape architecture from the University of California, Davis and a graduate degree in urban planning from the University of Washington.  She is also a certified Professional Wetland Scientist.
