Education and Outreach Coordinator

Kate Rossiter provides research and writing for American Farmland Trust’s education and outreach efforts, including projects such as the 2006 Farming on the Edge Conference. She also helps research, write and edit reports and case studies for the Farmland Information Center, the Growing Local initiative, consulting services and regional offices. In her hometown of Northfield, Massachusetts she is a member of the Northfield Agricultural Commission and the Northfield Open Space Committee, and serves on the board of the Greater Northfield Watershed Association. Rossiter believes local, sustainable agriculture strengthens communities, improves water and air quality, and boosts local economies.

Before 2006, Rossiter worked as coordinator for a dairy program with the Massachusetts Chapter of the Northeast Organic Farming Association and as a writing instructor at the University of Massachusetts.

From age 12 to 21, she worked most summers on organic farms, followed by six years of full-time farm work prior to earning an M.F.A. degree from the University of Massachusetts.
