Director of Risk Management

Brian BrandtBrian Brandt, Director of Risk Management Programs for AFT’s Agricultural Conservation Innovation Center (ACIC), has been employed by AFT since October 1998. In that time, Brian has played an integral role in a multi-disciplinary effort to develop innovative risk management tools to increase the adoption of best management practices. Specifically, he spearheaded the development of the Nutrient BMP Insurance policy and proposal that was submitted to and approved by RMA. Furthermore, he has played a principal role in the development of risk management instruments for integrated pest management and best management practices.

In addition to his many skills, Brandt brings to ACIC an intimate knowledge of production agriculture having been raised on a hog and cash grain farm in west central Ohio. Brian is actively involved in managing the family farm and with many family members and friends still actively engaged in farming, he maintains a vital link to the production agriculture industry.

His previous work experience includes managing a small sprouting company in Columbus, Ohio and working as a laboratory technician in a genetics lab for Westvaco in Charleston, South Carolina.

Brandt is a graduate of Ohio State University with a B.S. in Agronomy.
