Director, farmland information center

Jennifer DempseyJennifer Dempsey is the director of the Farmland Information Center (FIC) of American Farmland Trust (AFT). The FIC is a public/private partnership between AFT and the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resources Conservation Service. She and her staff respond to requests to the FIC for information, monitor farmland protection programs, report on state and local farmland protection activities, compile statistical data and produce educational materials. Dempsey joined AFT in 1995.

Dempsey served as the secretary for the Hadley, Mass. Conservation Commission from 1993 to 2000. She co-authored the town’s first open space and recreation plan and helped draft the town’s transfer of development rights bylaw. Dempsey co-chairs the town’s Agricultural and Open Space Sub-Committee.

Dempsey holds a bachelor of arts degree in English from Mount Holyoke College and a master of science degree in resource management and administration from Antioch New England Graduate School.
