Biography

Carmen manages AFT’s Underserved Farmer Outreach Program, working to bring technical assistance on sustainable and regenerative agriculture practices to beginning farmers, veteran farmers, urban, and farmers of color across five regions of California. Before joining AFT, she worked full time on her family’s small farm in Oaxaca, Mexico, where she still works growing heirloom varieties of corn, beans, and legumes following traditional, organic farming practices. Prior to that she worked in community development. Carmen holds a Bachelor of Arts in international business with an emphasis in Spanish and Latin America. She is bilingual in Spanish and fluent in Portuguese.
