Biography
Mikaela is the New York Policy Coordinator and helps support AFT’s public policy agenda in New York. She works with the New York Grown Food for New York Kids Coalition and the Alliance for New York’s Farmland, and conducts research on policy initiatives including smart solar siting and strategies to advance soil health. Prior to joining AFT, Mikaela was a field hand on a diversified vegetable farm in the foothills of the Virginia Blue Ridge Mountains. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Virginia, where she studied domestic food insecurity and agricultural policy and worked on a local farm.
