Sara Kelemen
New England Soil Health SpecialistBiography
Sara is a New England Soil Health Specialist working primarily to implement farmer-focused education, outreach and research collaborations across New England. She serves as the regional lead for the On-Farm Biochar Demonstration trials and liaison to the National Climate and Soil Health program. She is driven by a desire to work with farmers of all types towards improved farm resilience in the face of a changing climate. Prior to joining AFT, Sara was a Fellow with the USDA Northeast Climate Hub where she managed Climate Adaptation and Mitigation Fellowship programs, a network of climate-focused peer learning cohorts for farmers and service providers across the Northeast and Midwest. Sara holds an MS in Plant, Soil, and Environmental Science from the University of Maine, and a BA in History and Environmental Studies from Reed College. Sara has worked on vegetable and cut flower farms in Maine and California, and currently lives in the midcoast region of Maine.
