Christi Powell
Extension Educator, Penn State ExtensionBiography
Christi Powell (she/her) has worked for Penn State Extension since 2016 and is currently an Extension Educator, specializing in Ag Business Growth & Development, based in the Lehigh County office, (which is part of the Lehigh Valley region in Eastern PA).
Christi grew up on a family-owned, diversified livestock and crop operation in Carbon County, PA, where she continues to reside today with her family of six generations to raise primarily beef cattle, sheep, and crops to feed the animals. Through her farm experience she also raised, showed, and sold many livestock projects (market and breeding) through 4-H at local, regional, and statewide levels. Her farm experiences and passions also lead her to undergraduate and later graduate studies at Penn State in the College of Agricultural Sciences, and then eventually Extension work. Today she continues her family’s 4-H legacy by volunteering her time with the Carbon County 4-H Livestock Club as the Organizational Leader and Beef/Sheep/Swine Leader. Christi definitely wears many agricultural “hats”!
Christi is part of the Energy, Business & Community Vitality Team with Penn State Extension. Her areas of expertise, through many Extension sub-teams include: Ag Literacy & General Ag/Consumer Education; Ag Marketing and Display Building; Agritourism/Farm Tours; Farm Business Succession/Transition and Exit Strategy; Farm Stress; New & Beginning Farming; and Networking and Collaboration with Local Agricultural Groups/Agencies. Through her professional Extension work she is also a member of the National & PA Associations of County Ag Agents (NACAA/PACAA) and the Joint Council of Extension Professionals (JCEP). She also serves as an Extension/Farmer Representative for the Pennsylvania Farm Link and PA Livestock Association.
