Ali joined AFT in July 2023 as a New York State Policy Coordinator. Prior to joining AFT, Ali worked for GrowNYC’s Food Access and Agriculture program, connecting regional farmers and New Yorkers through Greenmarkets across the city and organizing with the GrowNYC Workers Collective. She previously worked in vegetable and flower production at farms and gardens in Illinois, Massachusetts, Colorado, Costa Rica, and Brooklyn. Ali holds a Bachelor of Arts in American Studies with minors in Environmental Policy & Culture and Creative Writing. She grows, saves, and shares seeds and their stories with the Iraqi Seed Collective.
