American Farmland Trust Statement on Farm Bill Expiration

This statement can be attributed to American Farmland Trust president and CEO, John Piotti.

American Farmland Trust is concerned by the expiration of the 2014 Farm Bill as many important programs supporting conservation, new and beginning farmers and ranchers, and local food will not operate during the legislative lapse. We know it is the goal of the conference chairs and ranking members to come to an agreement on a new Farm Bill, and we urge them to continue efforts to achieve that as soon as possible. This lapse in authorization is not without consequence, and we hope a bipartisan, long-term solution giving certainty to farmers and ranchers will be passed by Congress in the near future.
