AFT Applauds Establishment of EPA Office of Agriculture and Rural Affairs

American Farmland Trust’s Acting President and CEO and Vice President of Programs; Chair of the EPA FRRCC

AFT applauds the creation of an Office of Agriculture and Rural Affairs at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Farmers and ranchers are critical stewards and stakeholders in achieving our nation’s environmental goals. The establishment of this new office will help enrich the EPA’s understanding of agriculture and ensure that producers and rural communities play a larger role in shaping environmental regulations and policy. As chair of EPA’s Farm Ranch and Rural Community Committee (FRRCC), I am thrilled about this new office at EPA and confident it will support implementation of recommendations made by the Committee and presented to Administrator Regan. It will also give agricultural and rural communities a more prominent voice at the table throughout the agency offices at headquarters and across the regions.
