From Farm to Faucet Field Day (Mattoon, IL)
Join the Coles County FLASH group on Tuesday, June 30 for From Farm to Faucet, a stacked field day covering soil health, cover crops, and water quality. This field day series provides the opportunity to understand how farmers and water treatment plants interact with our local waterways. A light breakfast and lunch will be provided.

Location: Meet at City of Mattoon Water Treatment Plant - 2941 Lake Rd, Mattoon, IL
Accessibility: Please note, the sites will have limited accessibility accommodations. Participants should be comfortable standing for long periods and walking across fields.
During this field day we will:
Visit a local field to learn about in-field conservation practices happening in Coles County
Learn how in-field conservation practices affect water quality and soil health
Tour the local water treatment plant to understand the flow of water off the fields and how water is treated for our consumption
We will kick off the morning at the City of Mattoon Water Treatment Plant with coffee and donuts, then we will drive over to Bobby Orman’s field, participate in a demo of an in-field soil health assessment with David Kleinschmidt, and hear from Heather McFarland during a tour the City of Mattoon water treatment plant, and end at the treatment plant for lunch.
