Growing with Biochar Trainings
In partnership with USDA-ARS and Cornell University, the American Biochar Institute and American Farmland Trust offer Growing with Biochar trainings as full-day events focused on implementing biochar as a soil amendment under NRCS Conservation Practice Standard (CPS) 336: Soil Carbon Amendment. Trainings explore the intersection of cutting-edge research, innovative policy, and practical application related to biochar, compost-biochar mixtures, and other biochar-based amendments.
Designed for researchers, technical service providers, farmers, biochar producers, and conservation planners, the training events provide foundational knowledge on the science and field use of biochar and biochar-based blends, including compost blends under CPS 336. Resources are provided to help evaluate product suitability, guide sourcing and application, access technical assistance, address challenges, and much more.
Through these tailored presentations and networking opportunities, Growing with Biochar training events equip attendees with practical tools and science-based insights, with the goal of accelerating the adoption of biochar as part of soil health management systems and strengthening confidence and success in its use across agricultural landscapes.
