Growing with Biochar

In partnership with American Biochar Institute, American Farmland Trust offers Growing with Biochar Trainings as full day events focused on the implementation of biochar as a soil amendment under NRCS Conservation Practice Standard (CPS) 336: Soil Carbon Amendment. Trainings explore the intersection of cutting-edge research, innovative policy, and practical application related to biochar and co-composted biochar. Designed for researchers, technical service providers, farmers, biochar producers, and conservation planners, the training events provide foundational knowledge on the science and field use of compost, biochar, and other eligible amendments under CPS 336. Resources are provided to help evaluate product suitability, guide sourcing, application, accessing technical assistance, addressing challenges, and much more.

Through these tailored presentations and networking opportunities, Growing with Biochar training events equip attendees with practical tools and science-based insights, with the goal of accelerating adoption of biochar as part of soil health management systems and strengthening confidence and success in its use across agricultural landscapes.
