2026 Connecticut Soil Health Symposium

American Farmland Trust and Connecticut Resource Conservation & Development Area invite you to participate in a farmer-to-farmer Soil Health Symposium to learn and network with soil-health oriented livestock and vegetable farmers across southern New England.
The program will feature concurrent farmer-led workshop tracks and roundtable sessions for livestock and specialty crop producers (vegetable, fruit, flowers, herbs) on practical, innovative and effective practices for accelerating soil health gains. Workshop topics will include advanced cover cropping, prescribed grazing and pasture management, low and no-till farming methods, and farm hacks for fencing, equipment, efficiency, and more.

2026 Northeast Grazing & Livestock Conference

The 2026 Northeast Grazing and Livestock Conference is hosted by the New England Grazing Network, which comprises of a number of pasture-focus organizations in the northeast: Northeast Pasture Consortium, Wolfe’s Neck Center for Agriculture and the Environment, Granite State Grazers, Vermont Grass Farmers’ Association, Berkshire Agricultural Ventures, American Farmland Trust, University of Vermont Center for Sustainable Agriculture, UMaine Extension, and Cornell Cooperative We expect to reach farmers and service providers from all across New England and New York.
We are delighted to announce that several of AFT’s staff will be speaking. On Saturday, Cheryl Bruce, Bill Fosher, Max Breiteneicher, Caleb Smith, Jennie Kapszukiewicz will be speaking on several panels, ranging in topics from Scaling Up Sheep Production, to Economic Considerations in Grass-based enterprises. Each will share nuggets of their wisdom gained through years of experience grazing! The conference will also include workshops by regional grazing experts as well as practical farmer panels on all topics grazing.

2026 Farmer to Farmer Conference

Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners’ Farmer to Farmer Conference is known for its intimacy, in-depth treatment of topics, and profound discussions. The conference offerings are based on the idea that farmers learn best from their peers and other practitioners. Learn from and engage with speakers who are farmers and service providers, including peers and mentors from across Maine, Vermont, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania and more!
AFT’s very own Sara Kelemen will be presenting on Sunday morning, in a session from 9:30 am-12:30 pm titled Climate Cafe: Disaster Planning For Your Farm. Few of us have disaster plans for our farms. Whether a climate disaster or unexpected personal crisis, it is essential to have a plan for dealing with the unknown when you have so much at stake. Sara will walk participants through the process of developing a disaster plan using Second Frost Farm as a case study. Leave this session with a toolkit and framework for developing your own disaster plan.
