Biography

As the Farmland for a New Generation Associate, Alex works to support farmers in search of land while aiding retiring farmers and other farmland owners in making their land available for agriculture. Alex serves as the main point of contact Farmland for a New Generation New York, where she provides farmers and farmland owners with direct technical assistance, referrals to resources, and support using the New York Farmland Finder website to connect to farmers looking for land or land that is available for farming.

Alex is a graduate of Alfred University where she majored in environmental studies and earned an associate degree in equine science. Before joining AFT, Alex interned with the Agricultural Stewardship Association, a Farmland for a New Generation New York Regional Navigator, where she established a sound knowledge of agricultural conservation easements. This internship drove her to pursue a career with an agricultural land trust.

Alex currently resides with her partner on farmland that they make available through a lease to local farmers. On the farm you will also find Alex’s three horses that she competes on in ranch and reined cow horse events, her flock of laying hens, and her pack of rescue dogs who inspired the name of the farm to be “Dang Dog Farm”.
