Brenda Tenold-Moretz
Easement Specialist
Brenda Tenold-Moretz serves as an Easement Specialist at American Farmland Trust, where she assists the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) to advance agricultural conservation easement acquisitions across the country. With more than 29 years of experience in conservation work with the USDA NRCS, she has led efforts to implement natural resource practices on the land to improve water quality, soil health, and wildlife habitat. She was instrumental in the promotion, acquisition, implementation, and management of one of the largest Agricultural Conservation Easement Program (ACEP) programs in the country with Iowa NRCS. Most recently, Brenda spent a little over a year on the USDA National Easements Acquisition Branch obligating easements in eight states across the country. In Iowa, she held multiple NRCS positions including Area Easement Specialist, District Conservationist, Soil Conservationist, Soil Conservation Technician, and most recently, a Wetland Engineering Technician for the Conservation Districts of Iowa.
She was one of the original founders of the Worth/Winnebago County Women, Land, & Legacy Programs set up to educate female landowners and bring them together in a roundtable setting to feel comfortable asking questions and learning about farming. Brenda earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Iowa State University. She lives with her husband on the family farm where they are passing on the farming operations to their son.
