Charlotte M. Larson
Illinois Farmland Protection Specialist
Charlotte Larson is the Illinois Farmland Protection Specialist with American Farmland Trust. She is passionate about building resilience through regional, farmer-focused food systems. Charlotte earned her Bachelor’s in Sustainability: Food Systems from Chatham University. Prior to returning to Chicago, she was based in Pittsburgh, PA, where she worked to bolster regional agriculture infrastructure in Central Appalachia. Charlotte has previously served organizations such as Appalachian Sustainable Development and Food Tank. Charlotte’s early experiences on small, diverse farms informed her dedication to supporting growers and strengthening rural-urban networks. She is proud to contribute to farmland protection in partnership with USDA NRCS in her home state. Charlotte also works with Green City Market, carrying out SNAP/Link Match transactions and directing shoppers to the best veggies in the Chicago area.
