Chelsea Gazillo

California Senior Policy Manager

Chelsea is responsible for conducting research, educating stakeholders, conducting policy development and analysis, and outreach. She also collaborates with other policy leaders, land trusts, and farmers in the state to advance policies aligned with the AFT mission.


Before joining the AFT California Policy team, Chelsea spent seven years as the AFT Connecticut Working Lands Alliance Director and four years as the AFT New England Policy Manager. Before joining AFT, Chelsea served as a Food Policy AmeriCorps VISTA member with the Bridgeport Food Policy Council and the Bridgeport Farmers Market Collaborative. She was also a lead researcher for SIT Graduate Institute’s Real Food Challenge Campaign and an Intern for the Food Chain Workers Alliance.


Chelsea holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies from Humboldt State University in Arcata, CA, and a Master’s in Sustainable Development with an emphasis on policy advocacy and analysis from SIT Graduate Institute in Brattleboro, VT. In her free time, she enjoys fermenting locally grown foods, gardening, traveling, biking, visiting farms, and hiking in Northern California.
