Dylan Brown

Mid-Atlantic Livestock Grazing Specialist

Dylan joined American Farmland Trust in June of 2026 as the Mid-Atlantic Livestock Grazing Specialist. In this role, he works in partnership with USDA-NRCS to support livestock producers and grazers with grazing system planning and implementing livestock-focused conservation-based management practices working alongside producers in the New River Valley of Southwest VA. Dylan is originally from Southern Maryland, where he is the 6th-generation on his family's cow/calf beef and row crop operation. Dylan earned a Master of Science in Plant and Soil Sciences from the University of Delaware and a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science from Washington College. His master’s research was focused on understanding nitrogen release dynamics from cover crop residue in cropping systems both for cash crop uptake and nitrogen storage in soil organic matter. Dylan is excited to blend his academic research and hands-on practical experiences in this role.
