Emily Liss
Farm Viability Policy Manager
Emily Liss leads AFT’s farm viability work at the federal level. Emily is committed to advancing policies that keep farmers farming, such as addressing PFAS contamination of agricultural land, promoting business technical assistance, and ensuring that farmland transfers to the next generation of producers. Emily also works closely with the rest of the federal policy team to advance AFT’s broader policy agenda.
Before joining AFT, Emily worked with the Soil Health Institute, Rural Vermont, and the Vermont Agency of Agriculture, and spent four years working on farms where she both worked in the fields and did farm-based education. Emily earned her Master of Science in the Agriculture, Food, and Environment program at the Friedman School at Tufts University, with a concentration in natural resource management and a water systems certificate.
