Jen joined AFT’s Water Initiative in August 2023 as a Research Scientist focusing on the impacts of implementing various soil health practices. Before starting with AFT, Jen worked in the realm of organic certification at the Washington State Department of Agriculture, providing technical assistance to organic farmers across the state. Jen received her bachelor’s degree in biology from Lafayette College in Pennsylvania. Soon after, she became immersed in sustainable farming practices at the Rodale Institute as an intern. She received her Master of Science degree in horticulture and sustainable agriculture from Iowa State University, where her thesis focused on the use of strip tillage and row covers in cucurbit production. Jen is originally from Maryland, just outside of Washington DC. She is now based in Olympia, WA.
