Biography

Kiani joined AFT in April 2023 as a New York Regional Coordinator supporting Farm to Institute New York State (FINYS) and Farmer New Generation (FNG). Kiani holds a Bachelor of Science in Sustainability Studies from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Before joining AFT, Kiani supported Collectiveffort in event programming as their Community Engagement Manager. Prior to that, they supported BIPOC gardeners and farmers in developing essential agricultural skills as Soul Fire Farm’s Assistant Program Manager. As a long-time community organizer passionate about food access, they started a community garden in North Central Troy in 2019. Kiani’s experience organizing led them to run for and represent District 5 of the City Council of Troy, NY. Kiani is dedicated to building equity and justice through sustainable food systems and people-centered policy.
