Maddy Kangas

Midwest Program Coordinator

Maddy joined AFT in October 2025 as the Midwest Program Coordinator where she supports partners in advancing soil health practices, building regional networks, and strengthening on-the-ground implementation of sustainable agriculture initiatives. In this role, she helps connect resources across agencies and practitioners, ensuring farmers have the tools and support they need to succeed in an evolving agricultural landscape. Maddy holds a Master of Science in Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences from the University of Illinois. Prior to joining AFT, Maddy worked with the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service and the Xerces Society on California’s Central Coast where she partnered directly with farmers to develop site-specific conservation plans that improve ecosystem services on working lands. She views farmland not only as a resource, but as a living foundation for community, and is dedicated to supporting farmers in advancing practices that support people, ecosystems, and the future of regional agriculture.
