Senior Soil Health Scientist, Water Initiative

Meng joined AFT’ Water Initiative in May 2023. She is interested in understanding the impact of soil health practices on the agroecosystem, aiming for productivity, resilience, and sustainability. She has a background in plant and soil sciences and brings expertise in agroecology, soil ecology, and statistical modeling to the team. Meng earned her PhD from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a focus on the interactions between agricultural weeds and soil microbes in corn-soybean systems. Prior to joining AFT, she worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of California-Davis, where she explored soil health in diverse agroecosystems; and then at Pennsylvania State University, where she focused on corn genetics and genomics and plant-soil-microbe interactions. She is based in State College, PA, with her husband and their two-year-old daughter.
