Biography

Meredith joined American Farmland trust in 2024 as an Implementation Specialist. Her role will be assisting local farmers, ranchers, and landowners implement conservation practices. After she attained her Master of Science Degree in Agriculture from Tarleton State University, she moved to Ellis County to raise registered show cattle, farm, and operate a wholesale livestock feed company with her husband at Lazy D Farm and Eric Supply Company. She brings 27 years’ experience as a farmer and rancher that have worked alongside the NRCS and FSA. Prior to joining AFT, she was an agriculture and horticulture science teacher and County Extension Agent with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension. She is enthusiastic about youth programming and farmland preservation and helped create an annual fundraiser for the local FFA, Farm Fresh Dinner and a cross-age peer mentoring program. Meredith has traveled across the US broadcasting agriculture events and livestock sales with LiveAuctions.tv. Her family has been featured in many publications including Landscapes as well as being featured in a NatGeo series, Jobs That Bite. She has been a leader and volunteer for the Texas and National Shorthorn Associations. Lazy D Farm, a joint family operation, has won many awards including Progressive Breeder and 2020 Pioneer Breeder in the Shorthorn breed. In 2020, her family introduced Agrivoltaics into their operation. She and her husband led the research efforts for solar companies while facilitating coordination efforts with USDA, Texas A&M AgriLife and the local watershed. Her family, which includes two boys, raises sheep and livestock guardian dogs that graze the Elm Branch Solar Farm. As a producer, they are working closely with Texas Parks & Wildlife and the NRCS to implement sustainable practices on their farm. She believes diversity in her job and farming experience will assist in making connections to AGvocate for future generations in her role at AFT.
