Michael Watercutter
Conservation Agronomist
Michael joined American Farmland Trust in April of 2022. Michael is in a partnership with a farmer-owned Co-op in northwest Ohio called Mercer Landmark. His main role is to help farmers with soil health, cover crops, data entry in sustainability programs, and work through multiple incentive programs. Before AFT, Michael got his degree in Agronomy from The Ohio State University. Most of his career before AFT has been working in conservation ag, working as a Research Agronomist, Conservation Tech, and Precision Ag specialist. Michael grew up on a small dairy farm in west central Ohio that was started by his great grandfather in 1895. Currently at the farm, him and his dad raise corn, soybeans, and wheat, using cover crops and no-till. He also raises steer’s and in 2026, started a direct-to-consumer beef business. Selling beef from his family farm. Michael is married to his wonderful wife Katie and they have 3 beautiful children.
