Michael Watercutter

Conservation Agronomist

Michael Joined American Farmland Trust in April of 2022. Michael is in partnership with Truterra and Mercer Landmark, a farmer-owned Co-op in northwest Ohio. His main role is to help farmers with cover crops, funding opportunities for conservation practices, and participation in Truterra. Before AFT, Michael worked for Mercer County Soil & Water District as a conservation tech and office administrator. He also worked as a research agronomist studying cover crops and soil health. Michael has a degree in agronomy from Ohio State University. He grew up on a small dairy farm in west central Ohio that was started by his great-grandfather in 1895. He and his dad currently raise steers and grow corn, soybeans, and wheat. Michael and his wife Katie have a son named Colton, who is two and is expecting another child in the Spring of 2023.
