Nathan Strand
Director of Grants Management
Nathan Strand joined American Farmland Trust in 2026 as the founding member of the Grants Management Team. In this capacity, he oversees award compliance and provides financial oversight for AFT's diverse, growing portfolio of grant agreements. Prior to joining AFT, Nathan spent 10 years as a Foreign Service Contracting/Agreement Officer for the U.S. Agency for International Development, based in Washington, DC, and overseas in Colombia and Ghana. Additionally, Nathan has worked for a number of government contractors and non-profit organizations in the DC area. Nathan earned his bachelor’s degree from Wesleyan University and dual master’s degrees in public administration and international relations from the Maxwell School of Syracuse University. Originally from Gaithersburg, Maryland, he now resides in Washington, DC.
