Nina Bhattacharyya

Senior Agricultural Land Protection Capacity Manager

Nina Bhattacharyya serves as the Senior Agricultural Land Protection Capacity Manager at American Farmland Trust, where she leads a team increasing the capacity of the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) to advance agricultural conservation easement acquisitions. With more than 15 years of experience in conservation agriculture, she has led efforts in natural resource management, agricultural land protection, and resilient food systems nationwide.


Previously, Nina was Senior Technical Specialist at USDA’s Office of Urban Agriculture and Innovative Production, where she helped establish the office and manage national programs supporting urban and innovative farming. She also held multiple positions with the NRCS, including managing Partnerships and Initiatives, serving as Conservation Easement Program Manager, and working as a Soil Conservationist. Nina earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Richmond and a Master of Environmental Management from Yale University. She lives in Gainesville, Florida, with her family where she supports farmland protection initiatives in her community.
