
Rachel Carow
Agricultural and Conservation Technical Specialist
Rachel joined American Farmland Trust after years of hands-on experience in fruit and vegetable production, conservation planning, and agricultural business management. She is the co-owner and operator of Two Loons Farmstead, where she manages all aspects of regenerative fruit and vegetable farming, maintains a flock of laying hens, oversees forest management for wildlife and agroforestry, and operates a small-scale mushroom production system.
As an Implementation Specialist with American Farmland Trust, Rachel worked closely with NRCS to support farmers and landowners in planning, implementing, and certifying conservation projects across New Hampshire. She has extensive experience assisting with agricultural and forestry practices, including cover cropping, reduced tillage, soil health management, irrigation water management, and energy efficiency. She also helped connect farmers with financial and technical assistance programs, as well as local service providers.
Rachel previously worked with UNH Extension’s Agricultural Business Management team, where she supported financial planning, marketing, and risk management programming for farmers. She also administered 4-H programs, fostering agricultural education for youth. Earlier in her career, she gained valuable hands-on experience as a farmer at Farmer Tim’s Vegetables in Dudley, MA, where she performed all aspects of production, including quality control, harvest, integrated pest management, irrigation, and high tunnel production.
Rachel brings expertise in Soil Health Management, Integrated Pest Management, Farm Business Management, Risk Management, Marketing, and Record Keeping. She is also experienced in programming facilitation and grant writing, helping farmers navigate resources to build resilient and profitable farm businesses.
Rachel holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from Clark University.
