Stephanie Castle
Senior Northeast Women for the Land Program Manager
Stephanie leads the Women for the Land initiative across New York and New England and serves as an advisor to AFT’s national initiative. The program aims to empower women in all stages of agriculture by providing community-based education, technical support, and connection to resources. As part of this work, Stephanie established a network of women-led Leader Farms and developed a peer learning toolkit housed on AFT’s Farmland Information Center. Prior to coming to AFT, Stephanie worked directly with farmers promoting conservation practices and built a network of local, state, and federal partners to improve support services for local agriculture. Stephanie hails from a long line of family farmers but is a first-generation farmer-artist, operating a small fiber & flower farm outside of Rochester, NY with her husband and sons. She holds an M.S. in Geoscience from Boston College and a B.A. in Biogeochemistry from Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, PA.
