Biography

Tasha Wei (she/her/hers) is the Program Coordinator for AFT’s Farms for a New Generation. Prior to joining AFT, she was the Director of Educational Programs at the Forsyth Farmer’s Market, a year-round producer-only market in Savannah. Tasha spent 5 years creating community programming to address food insecurity in her local community. Her initiatives included developing curriculum for African diasporic inspired cooking classes, facilitating SNAP/EBT enrollment, and organizing youth and senior cooking classes. Driven by the community’s increased demand for local food during the pandemic, Tasha established and managed an incubator entrepreneurship program for emerging and historically underrepresented producers and food entrepreneurs. She also created curriculum and led workshops on community building and hands-on gardening and nutrition education for Deep Center 912’s, an youth after-school program. Tasha’s passion for agricultural education is inspired by her childhood in rural Jamaica and her background in Anthropology from Harvard University. She is committed to cultivating a more equitable and sustainable food system by advocating for more culturally relevant nutrition education and land access for BIPOC farmers.
