Biography

Zane joined American Farmland Trust in April 2024 as a Georgia Implementation Specialist. In this position, he collaborates closely with the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), farmers, and landowners across Georgia. His key responsibilities encompass supporting the implementation of Farm Bill programs, offering conservation plans and technical assistance, and spearheading outreach initiatives statewide. Zane is from Augusta, Georgia and he received his bachelor’s degree in environmental science at Kennesaw State University. Zane operates a small farm in Burke County, Georgia using his land stewardship experience, including knowledge from his time at the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS). At his farm he grows a variety of fruits, vegetables, and flowers. While with the NRCS, Zane actively contributed to conservation plans for private lands, providing technical support and facilitating cost-share programs and looks forward to continuing this work in his role at American Farmland Trust. Now a member of the AFT team, Zane is committed to advancing the protection of productive lands in Georgia.
