Rue de Bungaloo Farm

At Rue de Bungaloo Farm in Wisconsin, Hannah Frank raises pastured hogs, fruit, berries, garlic, and oyster mushrooms on land that has been in her family for generations. After a contamination outbreak wiped out nearly 100% of her mushroom crop, critical income for the farm, AFT’s Brighter Future Fund helped Hannah rebuild by adding two insulated, climate‑controlled shipping containers for incubation and fruiting. These upgrades immediately restored production stability and strengthened farm viability.

“Though we can't predict the weather or pests each season brings, this grant lets us build infrastructure that stays stable inside despite the instability outside,” Hannah reflected.

With washable walls, humidity control, fresh‑air ducting, and insulated mechanical systems, the new indoor mushroom rooms greatly reduced contamination and allowed Rue de Bungaloo to expand their CSA mushroom share by nearly 40%. The project supports sound farming practices and keeps this beginning farmer on the land by ensuring resilient year‑round production.
