Midwest

In the Midwest, AFT works with farmers, landowners, and conservation partners to improve the health of our soils and protect them from water and wind erosion. In addition to working with farmers and landowners, we support the implementation of conservation by quantifying outcomes of soil health practices to prove “they work." In the Midwest, we need to save the land—not just by the acre, but also by the inch. Click the video above for more information!

What’s New?

Protecting Farmland

Farmland is the foundation of a healthy agricultural landscape, but its survival depends on intentional protection efforts. We work alongside landowners, communities, and policymakers to keep these lands productive and intact, ensuring they remain a vital resource for future generations.

Promoting Sound Farm Practices

The future of farming relies on approaches that nurture the land while supporting farm businesses. By advancing practical, sustainable techniques that work in the Midwest, we help farmers strengthen soil, conserve water, and reduce environmental impact without sacrificing productivity.

Keeping Farmers on the Land

Farming is more than a job, it’s a way of life rooted in community and stewardship. We support farmers by connecting them with resources, education, and opportunities that promote viability while also helping to sustain vibrant rural communities and food systems.
