Higher temperatures, drought, drier soils and vegetation, and reduced snowpack across the Pacific Northwest are resulting in longer wildfire seasons and an increase in the size, frequency, and intensity of wildfires. Ranchers, as land stewards in arid regions, are uniquely vulnerable to wildfires. Wildfires occur naturally; nonetheless they can pose significant financial, human, and production-related risks for ranch operations.

AFT has partnered with Farmer Campus and their award-winning Farming Through Wildfire Season curriculum to develop a series of learning circles for agricultural landowners in the Pacific Northwest.

These learning circles cover fire preparedness, response, and recovery, with local experts leading the conversation.
