Biography

Jenna assists with all the written materials that AFT releases, providing editing and creative support. With over a decade of experience in the food system and more than five years in nonprofit storytelling and marketing, she is a seasoned communications professional. Before joining AFT, Jenna held various roles at ActionAid USA, culminating in her position as Communications Manager, where she led the organization’s communications strategy, engaged grassroots supporters, and amplified ActionAid’s work across digital platforms. During her time there, she produced two award winning films amplifying the voices of women farmers in Somaliland, Nigeria, and Bangladesh. She also supported ActionAid Senegal, using her storytelling skills to highlight partnerships with smallholder farmers and women’s groups.

Jenna graduated from College of the Atlantic in Bar Harbor, Maine, with a B.A. in Human Ecology specializing in climate politics, sustainable food systems/agroecology, and graphic design. Her passion for farming blossomed during her time at college, where she worked on the campus farm and managed their food access program, Share the Harvest. Throughout her college career, Jenna farmed in France, Ireland, Ghana, and Senegal. After graduation, she moved to The Gambia to work with the Agency for the Development of Women and Children, establishing a Seed and Cereal Bank to combat food insecurity in the North Bank Region. Jenna is originally from Louisville, Kentucky.
