Biography

West Michigan Farmers of Color Land Fund works to raise awareness of land access and equity issues regionally, with the ultimate goal of providing capital and guided support to aspiring or current Black Indigenous People of Color (BIPOC) farmers as they look to acquire land or keep their land. Their priorities are equity, racial justice, and supporting resilient communities through food systems. They work to rebuild a connection to land, community, and healthy foods and to address past generational injustices around access to land and agriculture.

West Michigan Farmers of Color Land Fund is represented by Payge Lindow (she/they).

Payge has a B.S. in Biology from the University of Michigan, where she also studied sustainable food systems, gender, and public health. She is a first generation, young, and queer farmer and facilitator from southeast Michigan. She created an urban farm last year for a nonprofit and led education programs for K-10 students, which fueled her passion for liberating our food. Payge is the Michigan Organizer for the National Young Farmers Coalition, where she uplifts farmers’ work and voices into policy conversations, while facilitating community building between farmers across the Midwest.
