Rachel works across AFT and with vendors, supporters, beneficiaries, and partners around the country to conduct outreach, deliver communications, coordinate initiatives, and develop new resources to support AFT’s mission. Rachel was raised on a horse rescue farm in the mountains of Western North Carolina. There, she developed a deep appreciation for her rural surrounds and the local farming community. Sitting on the porch of their neighbor’s home shucking corn and beans in the summers and busting ice in the water troughs during the winters, Rachel offers a well-founded understanding of the rugged challenges and profound rewards of agrarian life.

Previously, she served as the Conservation Outreach Associate at Mainspring Conservation Trust in Franklin, North Carolina where she managed nature hikes, cultural heritage tours, and land stewardship volunteer activities across the Little Tennessee and Hiwassee River Watersheds. Rachel also brings a civic commitment to solving issues within her communities, and has done so through several roles, including as an AmeriCorps member at Beardsley Community Farm growing fruits and vegetables for local hunger relief organizations as well as a coordinator for a nutrition program serving food insecure communities at Lowcountry Food Bank.

Rachel is also an avid traveler and lived in Australia while studying for her Environmental Policy & Management master’s degree. When she’s not attending events to save farmland, Rachel can be found skiing, mountain biking, or trail running with her rescue pup. She recently moved to Western Colorado where there are limitless opportunities for these adventures.
