Alex (she/her) joined AFT in November 2023, bringing her experience in project management, communication, and collaborative facilitation to advance resilient and equitable climate solutions for agricultural systems. In her Climate and Soil Health Coordinator role, Alex supports the Climate and Soil Health Team’s programmatic and operations needs across many intertwined national-scope projects. She is involved in logistics, metrics, outreach, recruitment and engagement of participants, publications, and communications for impact. Prior to joining AFT, Alex served as a land use planner in Montgomery County, Maryland, where she oversaw an area that includes the county’s 93,000 acre Agricultural Reserve. As a land use planner, Alex managed a network of stakeholders through the development review process and spearheaded an internal educational workshop series. She has also led workshops with farmers in India, lived in a Wyoming state park where she led natural history talks, and worked as a Climate Resilience Specialist in the nation’s capital. She has volunteered on farms in India, Florida, California, Wyoming, and Maryland. Alex holds a master’s degree in Urban and Environmental Policy and Planning from Tufts University, where she focused on climate change adaptation. Her thesis involved a comparative content analysis of the climate adaptation plans for four U.S. cities and Tribal nations in the northeast, to identify their overlapping and differing priorities. Alex’s undergraduate degree is from Florida State University, where she studied environmental policy, international planning, and food systems.
